MSG Meeting Held Discussion on Validation Process

 

In its meeting held under the leadership of H.E. Nargis Nehan, acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, the MSG discussed Validation in the present situation; H.E. the acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum said that Afghanistan should be fully prepared for Validation and in order to do so, an extension request of one year to be granted to Afghanistan was discussed which was agreed by the MSG members as well.

In accordance with the plan, the Validation process for Afghanistan had already started from July 1st 2017 and all the related documents for evaluation to help in the Validation were uploaded to AEITI website.

The acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum said that Afghanistan wasn’t prepared for Validation and emphasized that the matter of extension should be discussed with EITI international secretariat and a request for extension should be forwarded to EITI board. The members of the MSG were of the opinion that more preparations were needed for the Validation.

In its sitting, the resignation of the National Coordinator of AEITI was also discussed and the MSG called for the hiring of a new head for AEITI secretariat and said that directed the secretariat to complete the hiring process of the National Coordinator within a month.

In the meeting, the members were also briefed on the outreach activities including a workshop for Parliament members and an MSG workshop aimed at preparing the MSG on Validation which took place in New-Delhi and Dubai subsequently.
