CSOs Outreach Workshop Held in Bamyan Province

 

With the gracious support of AEITI CSOs constituency and with technical support of the AEITI secretariat, a two-day outreach program was conducted with the financial support of GIZ for the CSOs wider constituencies in the Bamyan province respectively on 12th and 13th of September 2020. 

The main aim to hold the workshop was to increase public awareness among the civil society members in the extractive and mining sector and to ask for their support with regard to community based monitoring, engaging wider civil society organizations on the mining and extractive oversight and governance.

The workshop participants were introduced to various pertaining matters and challenges in the extractive industry and how well they could use “EITI as a tool” to bring reforms within the Afghanistan’s extractive industry, meanwhile progress with regard to implementing the EITI standards, AEITI info-graphics, transparency portal, social monitoring of mines, environmental impacts and community engagement in the mining was also heavily focused in the workshop.

The workshop was attended over 40 participants from different civil society organizations from Bamyan, Daikondi and Ghor provinces and was held in accordance with AEITI work plan for 2020.
