CSOs Outreach Workshop Held - Balkh

Balkh - February 14: 

Civil society engagement in extractive and mining sector is a requirement of the EITI 2019 standard which states that “Civil society must be fully, actively and effectively engaged in the EITI process and the government must ensure that there is an enabling environment for civil society participation with regard to relevant laws, regulations and administrative rules as well as actual practice in implementation of the EITI”. In compliance with that requirement, AEITI planned its public awareness and outreach campaign on Afghanistan’s regional levels, including (Kabul, Herat, Nangarhar and Badakhshan provinces), so far these workshops have been conducted in the first 4 regions. The latest of the outreach campaign commenced in Balkh provinces and a workshop was held on 11th and 12th of February 2020 through financial support of GIZ- Afghanistan, where around 39 participants from different civil societies organization under ENRMNs and FETWO network including 31 from Mazar (16 male and 15 female) and 8 from neighboring provinces ( Baghlan, Samangan, Saripol and Jwazjan) were invited to attend the workshop.
