Afghanistan Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative held its MSG’s 48 Meeting

 

On September 22nd 2020, Afghanistan Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (AEITI) held its Multi-Stakeholder group (MSG) meeting 48th.

H.E Muhammad Haroon Chakhansori minister of Mines & Petroleum, DM customs Ministry of Finance, DM Policy MoMP, members of MSG, AEITI secretariat were the participants of the mentioned meeting – World Bank and EITI representatives took park in the meeting through SKYPE.

H.E Muhammad Haroon Chakhansori minister of Mines & Petroleum added: According to EITI’s assessment report sent to MSG – Afghanistan has shown satisfactory meaningful progress which may hopefully result to resume Afghanistan’s candidacy at EITI.

He added: "we are here to work for transparency in the mining sector and we want to ensure transparency." I therefore call for better coordination among the members of MSG to uphold this principle.

Participants of this meeting were also briefed about 7th AEITI inception report and as well as about the validation process. Information in regard of the private sector and civil society elections were also on the pages of the meeting, on the other hand SoEs audit issue was also discussed in the 48th MSG meeting.
