46th AEITI MSG Meeting Held

 
The 46th meeting of AEITI MSG was held on May 4th 2020 under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister of Policy and Programs of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum.
 
The meeting, which was co-hosted by members online; the meeting focused on discussion over the modification of Afghanistan 6th EITI Report, MSG's Election Procedures for Civil Society Members and Private Sector, Afghanistan's Request for Re-Validation, Conflict Resolution, Gender Policy, Annual Progress Report for the year 2019 and progress made with regard to the allocation of 5% and 8% of revenues to mining areas under the new Mining Law and the findings of the Supreme Audit Office of the State-owned enterprise of the Northern Afghan Coal.
 
It is expected that with the completion of the above-mentioned activities implementation, the suspension of Afghanistan's membership with EITI would be restored as candidate and would focus on the full membership with the organization in the years.
 
It is noteworthy that Afghanistan has been a member of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative since 2010; But in early 2019, the country's membership was suspended due to non-compliance with the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) implementing criteria.
